Gold Lustre 12% (Premium)
Colorobbia Gold Luster 12%
Colorobbia Gold Luster 12% is a high-end overglaze crafted to deliver a rich, reflective gold finish on already fired and glazed ceramic or porcelain ware. Containing 12% pure gold by weight, this formula yields a deeper, more intense gold surface—typically yielding around 22–23 karats after firing—offering greater brilliance compared to the 10% Liquid Metallics or 10% premium variants.
Made in Italy, this luxurious luster is packaged in a 2 gram bottle, ideal for professional-level artwork where luminous gold detailing is desired.
Available in: 2 gram bottle
Gold content: 12% by weight — richer than the 10% formulas
Firing results: Approx. 22–23 karats
Recommended firing range:
Earthenware: 690–700 °C (Cone 018)
Porcelain: 750–815 °C (Cone 017–015)
How to Use Colorobbia Gold Luster 12%
Important Safety Note:
This luster contains hazardous materials that release toxic vapors during use and firing. It must be used in a well-ventilated area with NIOSH-approved respirator and gloves to avoid inhalation or skin contact.
Surface preparation: Ensure your piece is glaze-fired, completely clean, dry, and dust-free. If using rubbing alcohol, let the piece dry fully before application.
Use a dedicated brush: Soft round or flat bristle brushes should be used exclusively for luster application, to avoid contamination.
Do not stir or shake the bottle prior to use.
Application: Apply a thin, uniform coat using a lightly wetted brush—wipe excess luster on the bottle rim. Avoid pooling to ensure a streak-free finish.
Drying: Allow the piece to dry in a clean, dust-free environment before firing.
Firing: Fire the dry piece to Cone 018 (earthenware) or Cone 017–015 (porcelain), using a clean, well-ventilated kiln and a fast firing schedule with peep holes open.
Additional Information
Higher gold content: At 12%, this luster produces a more saturated and vivid gold compared to 10% Liquid Metallics or 10% Premium Gold.
Overglaze nature: Applied over fired glaze; finish reflects the texture of the underlying surface (matte, satin, or gloss).
Composition: Complex blend of precious metal salts, resins, and oils designed for vibrant lustrous effects.
Handling, Clean-Up & Storage
Always wear vinyl gloves and a respirator.
Promptly wash any contact with skin or clothing using warm soapy water.
After use, clean bottle threads, seal tightly, and store in the original plastic container to prevent fumes.
Store in a cool, dry area—avoid heat and humidity which can thicken the luster.
Care and Usage Notes
Microwave use is not safe—this is real metal.
Not dishwasher-proof: Treat like fine china; hand washing extends the finish, as dishwashers eventually wear away delicate gold.
Higher cost: The 12% gold content means a higher price point; ideal for fine-art or high-value pieces where depth and richness of gold are essential.
