Bright Platinum Overglaze / Luster, 2 grams

$68.00
  • Colorobbia Platinum Luster
Colorobbia’s Platinum Luster is a premium metallic overglaze for enhancing glazed and fired porcelain or ceramic ware with a striking platinum sheen. Crafted in Italy, each 2 gram bottle delivers a cool, reflective metallic finish distinct from warmer gold tones—ideal for contemporary, elegant designs.

    Available in: 2 gram bottle
    Metal finish: Platinum—not gold—suiting cool-tone palettes
    Firing range: Cone 019–018 (approx. 690–700 °C)

How to Use Colorobbia Platinum Luster

    Important Safety Note:
This luster contains hazardous materials that emit toxic vapors during application and firing. Always work in a well-ventilated area, use a NIOSH-approved respirator, and wear vinyl gloves to prevent skin contact.

    1. Surface preparation: Ensure the piece is glaze-fired, thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free of dust or oils. If cleaning with rubbing alcohol, allow for full evaporation before applying.

    2. Use dedicated tools: Apply with soft bristle round or flat brushes reserved for platinum luster to avoid contamination.

    3. Do not shake the bottle before use.

    4. Application: Load a small amount on the bottle rim; brush a thin, even coat onto the surface. Avoid pooling or streaking for a smooth platinum layer.

    5. Drying: Let the luster dry undisturbed in a clean, dust-free area.

    6. Firing: Fire the dry piece to Cone 019–018 in a clean, well-ventilated kiln using a fast firing cycle with peep holes open.

    Additional Information

    • Platinum finish: Offers a cool silvery metallic sheen, perfect for projects requiring a modern or neutral palette, distinctly different from warm-gold options.

    • Overglaze nature: Applies atop already fired glaze and adopts the texture (matte, satin, or gloss) of the underlying surface.

    • Composition: A refined blend of metallic salts, resins, and oils that delivers a smooth, reflective platinum effect.

    Handling, Clean-Up & Storage

    • Always wear gloves and respirator when handling.

    • Immediately wash any skin or clothing contact with warm, soapy water.

    • After use, wipe bottle threads, cap tightly, and store within its plastic container to reduce fume exposure.

    • Store in a cool, dry environment—avoid heat or humidity to prevent thickening.

    Care and Usage Notes

    • Not microwave-safe—contains real metal.

    • Delicate finish—treat as fine china; hand washing with light care preserves the metallic sheen longer, as dishwasher cycles can diminish it over time.

    • Distinct appearance—Platinum Luster produces a cool-toned metal sheen, unlike the warmer tones of gold variants.
